Pablo Cano’s Red Velvet Theater inaugural production: “The Kitch in Sax Blues”

Last night I had the fortune of being commissioned by Cuban marionette artist Pablo Cano to photograph the dress rehearsal of “The Kitch in Sax Blues”  and it was a theater evening I will never forget.  Pablo explained his “dream has always been to transform his 1924 home in Little Havana into an experimental, intimate and discreet alternative space for marionette theater, dance, poetry readings and film debuts.”    With two colleagues and friends, Katherine Kramer and Joanne Barrett, his dream has now become a reality and is called “THE RED VELVET THEATER.”  Their first production will be presented April 6 & 7 and includes cooking, choreography and lyrics by Katherine Kramer and Joanne Barrett, musical landscape by saxophonist, Matthew Taylor and bassist, Bruce Johnston.  Pablo will perform with his marionettes.

The first two performances are by invitation only but if you’d like to get on the invitation list for upcoming productions, email Pablo here:
