Captain Bob – a street portrait

In addition to street photography, I also love doing portraits whether formal, staged, environmental or impromptu street portraits.

Last week I attended a great performance by the Gary Campbell Quartet at the Miami Jazz Coop in Coral Gables.  During the show I spotted this character in the audience and knew I had to get a portrait.  It turns out “Captain Bob” was out celebrating his 85th birthday.  He’s a retired merchant marine and wears his sailor/pirate outfit when out in public.  I hope I’m as lively as he is when I’m 85 🙂
